The Craziest but most effective diet I ever did, The Velocity Diet

Are you fat, or at least chubby? If you say no look at your bare ass and
bare stomach and still tell me no. Maybe you are in good shape for a
normal person, but don't want to be normal. Well, I used to be chubby
and even fat at times when I was a competitive powerlifter. Back in April
2006 I competed in the Canadian National Powerlifting Championships,
then took a trip to the Dominican Republic. While at the resort I ate and
drank as much as possible while doing as little as possible. I was in hog
heaven, unfortunately my body started to look like a prize pig.
You see, I was borderline fat before going on the vacation. Then while
there I gained a solid 10 lbs in one week! The day I came back to
Ottawa I weighed a mighty 255 lbs at 6' tall. Not obese, but pretty
chunky for a steroid free weightlifter. I have always been a fitness nut
so the weight was really bothering my sensibilities. After taking a hard
look at myself in the mirror I decided to do something about it once and
for all.
My weight loss plan was simple, expend as much energy as possible
while training through circuit training and high intensity interval training.
I have lost weight in the past, and let me tell you, exercise alone will not
do it. You must eat a certain way to lose weight. Personally, I do well
with a low carb diet, so that is what I started with.
First I went on the Metabolic Diet by Dr Mauro Di Pasquale, it is a low
carb during the week and a high carb on the weekend plan. It got the
ball rolling a bit the fact was I was losing fat at the rate I needed to in
order to satisfy myself. Then I just went straight low car, meat, cheese,
veggies and protein powder. That plan was more effective and the
pounds started to burn off. For whatever reason though, I just was not
happy. I needed to lose the weight yesterday so I said screw it! I went
on the craziest and perhaps most brilliant diet I had ever heard of. It
sounded so crazy I was afraid to try it!
What is this insane diet? It is called the Velocity Diet. The plan is super
simple, nothing but protein shakes, fish oil, a greens supplement and a
fiber supplement all day every day for 28 days. That is right, you heard
me, a 100% protein powder meal plan with some omega-3 oils and
supplements to keep you healthy. No pop diet or otherwise, no food
even healthy food, no caloric intake except what is listed above. Too
crazy? Not healthy? Well guess what, having a fat ass and a jelly belly
is not healthy and is a little crazy too!

Don't get me wrong, even I was afraid of this diet. Afraid I would lose
muscle, afraid I would get sick, even afraid I would crack! The fact is
though, I measured out the calories so I would not starve, I ensured
that I would get adequate nutrition, at least for 28 days, so I had
nothing to worry about. I prepared for war with an arsenal of
supplements and mentally prepared myself for the greatest challenge I
had ever faced!
My first step was to get rid of all off limit foods in my house and
workplace. Then I took off my shirt and stared hard at my fat stomach.
Then I measured my stomach, after looking in horror I knew this diet
had to go down! The fat war began on day 1, and I was ready. The first
few days of liquid diet living were interesting. I had more time to do
things because I was never preparing food. I was hungry all the time at
first, but when hungry I would just pound a shake. After three or four
days my appetite adjusted and I was no longer hungry all the time.
Days 1-5 passed pretty much as expected, I lost a few pounds of
mostly water I think, felt OK and was pretty motivated. Days 6-10 were
very interesting, the weight just started to fly off! 2-3 pounds a day
were melting off my body each day. I was losing inches around my
waist, thighs, ass and chest. I actually looked worse with my shirt off
because my muscles were glycogen deprived and I was still chubby.
But I new things were going well because my stomach bloat was gone.
Days 11-20 were great too. I had totally adjusted to the regimen, was
losing a pound or two each day and felt awesome. I started to smell
kind of funny due to consuming one food product all day each day for
so long. My stomach looked good, I looked good, it was great. I was
even starting to think about keeping the diet going longer, but I
wondered how long it was healthy to do this.

Days 21-28 were super easy. I looked great in the mirror at this time, I
am not bragging here, I just mean I had no fat on me anymore. I was
lean, had abs for the first time ever and was very happy I chose the
Velocity Diet. On the last day I was sad it was over, really I was. The
constant positive feedback in my life was very satisfying. Also, gaining
control over my body made me feel good.
In conclusion, I lost over 28 lbs in 28 days without any undue stress as
far as I am concerned. Yes I like to eat junk food but the fact is I like
looking at my abs more. The Velocity Diet was a huge success and I
felt like a new man! In my next installment I will tell you how I have kept
the weight off for over a year and even lost more fat over this time
period. No rebound, that is the real key to a diet.
